Brandon "Shippy" Shippy
Striking Instructor | Kickboxing, Muay Thai & MMA
Brandon “Shippy” Shippy brings nearly 20 years of martial arts experience to WaveMan Combat Academy, with a background spanning multiple stand-up striking disciplines. His martial arts journey began with Taekwondo as a child and eventually expanded into boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA, including experience competing inside the cage.
Rather than limiting himself to a single style or system, Shippy has spent years learning from different coaches, disciplines, and experiences. That diverse background has helped shape his approach to striking and given him an appreciation for continuing to learn, adapt, and improve.
But for Shippy, martial arts has always been about more than learning how to throw a punch or kick.
Training has helped reinforce discipline, respect, confidence, perseverance, and character, qualities he works to pass along to everyone he teaches. His goal as an instructor is to share what he has learned, challenge people to become better, and build up the individuals training alongside him.
Away from the mats, Shippy is a devoted husband and father of four beautiful children. Family is an important part of his life, and when he isn't spending time with his family or training, you'll often find him outdoors. He's an avid hunter who enjoys the outdoors and the patience, preparation, and discipline that come along with it.
Those different parts of his life all contribute to the person and instructor he is today.
Whether someone walks into WaveMan wanting to learn striking for the first time, improve their conditioning, develop practical skills, or challenge themselves at a higher level, Shippy works to create an environment where people can learn, work hard, and continue progressing.
His philosophy fits naturally with the culture we're building at WaveMan: keep learning, keep pushing yourself, and help build up the people around you along the way.
